VoIP is an abbreviation for voice over Internet protocol. It is easy to confuse VoIP with broadband phone service. Though broadband phone service uses the voice over Internet protocol to send and receive phone calls, it is not actually VoIP. The Internet is finding endless ways for people to connect and communicate. You can have a conversation with someone miles away through typing messages to them. You can reconnect with people on social networking sites. Now you can make Skype phone calls. Skyping is as close as you can get to someone without actually being in the room with them. You talk to someone like you would on a phone, only it’s through a microphone. A web camera is hooked up to your computer and you can see each other while you talk.
